Starting a new hobby with Aerial Sling

It’s never too late to pick up a new hobby. I was never the athletic person growing up. I even fractured my arm back in high school just for skating. Now in my 20s, staying active has become a top priority for me. I’ve always set goals to lead a healthier and more active lifestyle, and I’m constantly on the lookout for exciting ways to achieve that. In this post, I will be sharing about how you can get started with aerial, or any fitness activity as a beginner like me!

I recently discovered a new studio in my city, Davao that offers beginner aerial classes. I signed up for the aerial sling/hammock classes, and instantly fell in love with it.

  1. Embrace the Beginner Mindset: First things first, don’t be intimidated by the fact that you’re starting as a beginner. We all have to start somewhere, right? Embrace the beginner mindset, and remember that it’s all about enjoying the process of learning and growing. Trust me, everyone in the class has been in your shoes at some point, so you’re in good company.
  2. Find a supportive studio and instructor: When venturing into a new fitness activity, it’s important to find a studio and instructor that make you feel comfortable and supported. Look for a place with a welcoming atmosphere, knowledgeable instructors, and a focus on safety. Having an encouraging and knowledgeable instructor can make all the difference in your learning experience.
  3. Take it at your own pace: Don’t feel pressured to rush your progress. Remember, it’s not a competition. Take things at your own pace and listen to your body. Gradually build up your strength, flexibility, and skills, and celebrate each small achievement along the way. The key is consistency and enjoying the journey.
  4. Stay Open minded: Keep your curiosity alive and be open to trying new things within your chosen activity. Whether it’s exploring different aerial moves, attending workshops, or even trying other fitness activities alongside aerial, maintaining an open mind will keep the excitement alive and help you discover what truly resonates with you.
  5. Enjoy the learning process and have fun: Above all, remember to have fun! Enjoy every moment of your fitness journey, from the challenges to the triumphs. Embrace the joy of learning something new and the thrill of pushing your limits. Fitness is about more than just physical results; it’s about discovering your capabilities, embracing self-care, and finding joy in movement.

So, whether it’s aerial, dance, yoga, or any other fitness activity that sparks your interest, don’t hesitate to dive in. Remember, it’s never too late to start something new and discover a whole new world of passion and fulfillment. Get out there, be fearless, and let your journey unfold one exciting step at a time.
